Every year the U.S. Assemblies of God designates the second Sunday of December as Bible Sunday across the Fellowship. On that day, U.S. churches partner with Bible Alliance, a ministry of Assemblies of God World Missions, to help provide the FireBible in one or more languages. This year’s focus is India.
On Bible Sunday, Dec. 11, participating churches will designate part or all of offerings taken to help Bible Alliance translate and produce the FireBible in three major languages of India — Gujarati, Marathi, and Odia. These language speakers represent about 200 million of India’s 1.3 billion people. India is the world’s second-largest country, and at its current growth rate it is expected to be the largest by 2022.
Celebrating 20 years of providing God’s Word, Bible Alliance has produced the FireBible in 54 editions and 43 languages with the faithful support of missions-minded churches and individuals. As a result, hundreds of thousands of pastors, church leaders, lay ministers, and followers of Christ worldwide are using the FireBible in their languages for preaching, teaching, discipleship, and personal study.
The FireBible is the most distributed and translated study Bible in history, according to international Bible societies. Often referred to as a one-book Pentecostal library, this study Bible includes 77 theme articles, 45 maps and charts, introductions to each book of the Bible, and study notes written from a Pentecostal worldview.
“We are grateful to the vast number of churches and individuals across America who are faithful to participate in Bible Sunday every year,” says Jeffrey Dove, missionary director of Bible Alliance and Life Publishers. “Partnership with Bible Alliance to provide the FireBible in more languages for sister churches around the world is urgently needed and greatly valued.”
