How to Deal with Loss

As our church gathered for worship last Sunday, there was an empty place on the stage. Our electric guitar player was missing. He was laying in a hospital room on the verge of losing a battle with cancer. A day later he lost the fight, and he has now gone home.

When our church next gathers, we will face together a significant loss - a friend, a loved one, a mentor. Loss is no stranger to the church. Churches face the loss of people, the loss of property, even the loss of leaders. This question arises: How shall we make sense of the loss? What does it mean? How shall we respond?
