James River Church of Ozark, Missouri, has won the Bible Quiz National Finals competition for the third year in a row -- setting a record for consecutive national championships.

The event, which brings together the nation's top 40 teams, took place June 27-July 3 in Phoenix with quizzers competing over the books of Romans and James.

The James River team, "On Fire," overcame the top-seeded team from Cedar Park Church in Bothell, Washington, in a championship match that went into overtime. James River's team captain, Daniel Quick, answered the final 10-point question to quiz out and tie the score. His sister, Hannah Quick, took the overtime question for the win.

Bothell's Abby Rogers, who will attend Northwest University in the fall, shattered her own record to finish the tournament as the top-scoring quizzer for the sixth consecutive year. Rogers was Female Quizzer of the Year for the seventh consecutive year, and Daniel Quick was the Male Quizzer of the Year.

This was the fourth national championship for Coach John Porter, who led James River's team of Kacie Garrison, Josh Clark, and the Quick siblings. James River is the first team in the 53-year history of the national competition to garner three consecutive titles.

Maple Lane Assembly of God, of Deposit, New York, was the third place team, and Living Hope Worship Center, of Swedesboro, New Jersey, took fourth.

Rogers won the Individual Tournament, followed by Damon Comfort of Bellevue, Washington, Daniel Quick, and Hannah Quick. Tyler Adelmann of Wyckoff, New Jersey, won the Quoting Bee, with Rogers and Daniel Quick ranking second and third, respectively.
