The Journey Continues

Journey Community Church (AG) worship leader Zach Loomis has poured hours of work into his upcoming album, Captivate. Now, that work is about to pay off with the release of his first single, which shares its name with the album title.
Loomis leads worship at Journey Community Church in Fairview Park, Ohio, which serves over 1,600 people across four campuses.
Produced by John Hartley (SOAR) and in collaboration with noted worship songwriters Stu G (Delirious), Chris McClarney, Dwayne Larring (SonicFlood), Travis Ryan and others, Captivate came to life over the course of a year. Twelve songs were culled from 54 original compositions, all centered on the presence and character of God.
"Growing up as a pastor's kid, it was easy for Jesus to become something ordinary and familiar, someone you go to to get what you need," Loomis says. "This has been a huge growing experience. I'm completely focused on the wonder of who God is, on His character, and His attributes, and how His presence changes everything."
"Captivate," a slow-building anthem for corporate and personal worship, was written as a testament to the faithfulness of God.
"This song is about being captivated by who God is, how He keeps His promises, how He doesn't fail, He doesn't leave, He is constant," Loomis says. "How incredible it is to know, in this moment, the wonder and awe of that [idea]."
It is fitting that the first single on the album represents the album -- and the Journey community -- as a whole.
"This project is such a community effort," Loomis says. "Our church has rallied behind it, financially, in prayer, and in encouragement. Never once did I feel I was on my own, so in that sense -- even though I've been given the freedom to speak and say what God has been showing me -- it belongs to our church."
"Here at Journey Community Church we believe that God has called us to bring Him glory by helping people take one more step toward God," says Journey Community Church Lead Pastor Jim F. Wilkes. "Now more than ever, it is vital that we draw people into His presence where they are truly transformed. I believe 'Captivate' does just that."
