Virtual Prayer Meeting

A national “virtual prayer meeting” will take place across North America every night for three weeks beginning on New Year’s Day.

Nightly at 9 Eastern Standard Time from Jan. 1-22, Christians from across the continent can join a live prayer call focused on revival and awakening by calling 605-562-3172, access code 1234. The call will last for 90 minutes.

Guests scheduled on the call include Alton Garrison, assistant superintendent of the U.S. Assemblies of God; Tim Hill, general overseer of the Church of God; Ronnie Floyd, immediate past president of the Southern Baptist Convention; Tom Phillips, vice president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association; Kay Horner of the Awakening America Alliance; and Timothy Coalter, North American overseer of the Church of God of Prophecy.

The call will have an interdenominational flavor, with leaders from across the nation facilitating prayer segments throughout the 22 days.

Among the guests are U.S. Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma; Dave Butts, chairman of America's National Prayer Committee; AG ordained minister Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference; Michael Obi, executive director of the African Strategic Prayer Leader's Network; and Sarah Ballenger, founder of Capitol Hill Prayer Partners.

Each day, a devotional challenge will be emailed to those requesting updates on the call. The devotional is an excerpt from Jesus Now, a new book by Tom Phillips.

Each night, a national leader will co-host the call along with P. Douglas Small, president of Alive Ministries: Project Pray. The calls include a prayer segment, a ‘Look What God is Doing!’ report, praise moments, and awakening needs, all designed to move listeners to pray.

“We don’t want to merely talk about prayer — we want to pray!” Small says.

Listeners may mute their phones and pray along or they can dial in a special passive listener’s number.

“With our technology, thousands can join these calls simultaneously,” Small says. Those living outside North America usually will be able to connect via Voice over internet protocol or by using a service such as Skype. The listener-only number is 605-562-3173.

At 10:30 p.m. EST, planned afterglow for open prayer will be available. To receive updates and the daily emails for the call, sign up at http://americapray.net/. For more information, email [email protected] or call the Project Pray Office at 855-842-5483.
