Medals of Honor Presented to Two
Two men were presented the Superintendent’s Medal of Honor during a ceremony yesterday: Augustin (Augie) V. Lopez and David Green.
Augie Lopez has owned and operated a real estate brokerage firm since 1971. Augie in the area of real estate and he has used these giftings to help numerous churches. He has always come to the defense of smaller churches. Many times giving of his time, without any remuneration, in order to help struggling churches. In addition, he also serves on several ministry boards including Vanguard University, Latin American Bible Institute, Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and the Commission on Christian Higher Education, to name a few. One of the dearest to his heart is Friendship Ministries, a special "church" sponsored by Orange County Worship Center uniquely designed to minister to the needs of the developmentally disabled.
The second recipient of this year’s General Superintendent’s Medal of Honor is David Green, president and founder of Hobby Lobby of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. However, this honor is for more than his business accomplishments. David has succeeded greatly because he has never ceased in maintaining the cause of Christ as the reason for his achievements. David’s life and ministry shout from the rooftops that Jesus is Lord. He feels the purpose for Hobby Lobby’s is about the ultimate gift—passing on the simple message of Jesus Christ to as many as possible.
