Coins for Kids Breaks Giving Record

Mandy Groot, the national Assemblies of God Girls Ministries director, has announced that giving for the 2014 Girls Ministries Coins for Kids project, Northern Asia Orphan Care, has broken a giving record.

Coins for Kids is an annual giving project for girls ages 4 to 12 involved in AG Girls Ministries. According to Groot, girls across the country gave $237,234.26 to the Northern Asia Orphan Care project in 2014.

“This is almost $22,000 more than our previous record-giving year in 2012,” Groot says. “It’s an amazing accomplishment for our district and church leaders and the thousands of girls they represent.”

In an open letter from those who work with the Orphan Care ministry, addressed to the girls and their leaders and posted on the Girls Ministries website, they wrote:

“We were astonished when we found out how much you had raised for the kids in Northern Asia. We knew you had been working very hard to help with this project, but what you did was absolutely amazing!

“. . .  Some of these kids live in places where almost no one has ever heard about Jesus. Because of all your hard work, you are helping us not only love babies (even more babies than we planned), but also tell people in new places how much Jesus loves them.“

“This giving record reinforces the type of impact children can have on ministry,” states Mark Entzminger, senior director of AG Children’s Ministries. “It should also communicate to adults the importance of discipling children in a way that they develop hearts of compassion for those hurting and in need of Christ in their lives.”
