Seminaries Partner to Provide African Leaders with Doctor of Ministry Program

On March 24, 2015, the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) and Pan-Africa Theological Seminary (PAThS) entered into a fraternal affiliation to provide a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program on the continent of Africa. 

PAThS, an initiative of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, currently offers a PhD in Theological Studies accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research of Togo. The new DMin program will offer four tracks of study: Missions, Bible-Theology, Education, and Leadership.

This strategic agreement between AGTS and PAThS will allow the two seminaries to partner in empowering and equipping the next generation of Pentecostal leaders in Africa. It will also demonstrate the impact of a cooperative international affiliation, enable faculty exchange and sharing of educational resources, and facilitate opportunities for cross-cultural learning experiences.

John Easter, vice chancellor of PAThS, stated the following: "As the Assemblies of God in Africa continues to grow and gain influence, the Doctor of Ministry program will offer a new generation of church leaders access to training that will strengthen and enhance their ministry skills in their own context. Within the rapidly changing environment of the African continent, we believe this program will further the Great Commission as church leaders more effectively serve the body of Christ and advance His kingdom in new frontiers that are ready for harvest." 

To facilitate this new program, Africa's Hope will help to construct new facilities on the West Africa Advanced School of Theology campus in Lomé, Togo. Africa's Hope will also help provide scholarships for African leaders training in the program.

According to Dr. Byron D. Klaus, AGTS president, the partnership between PAThS and AGTS is an initiative that demonstrates Kingdom stewardship. "The experience of AGTS in developing doctoral programs that value sharp minds and passionate hearts in rigorous learning experiences is partnered with the commitment of PAThS to that same effort on the African continent," he says. "The relationship with PAThS challenges AGTS to remain faithful to serving globally so that our service to the Assemblies of God may continue to keep its promise to being part of the greatest evangelism the world has ever seen."
