AG College Resources Bible Schools Across Africa

The 2013 consolidation of Central Bible College, Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and Evangel University has resulted in Bible schools in Africa being blessed with tens of thousands of resource books!

Recently, Africa’s Hope, a ministry of Assemblies of God World Missions, Africa region, received more than 55,000 textual resources from Evangel University (EU) in Springfield, Missouri, as a result of the 2013 consolidation of EU with Central Bible College and Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, also in Springfield. This donation served to provide library resources for several Africa AG Bible schools.

“Thank you, Evangel University, for your partnership to provide books, shelving and furniture for our Africa Bible schools,” says Dr. John Easter, Africa’s Hope director. “These materials will bless and enrich the training of pastors across the continent. We are especially grateful to receive these materials at West Africa Advanced School of Theology in Lome, Togo, and East Africa School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya.”

This two-year project, at a cost of $85,375, was completed in January 2016. It involved shipping 55,365 books, library furniture, and 600 linear feet of library shelving to schools in

  • Democratic Republic of the Congo — Lubumbashi
  • Gabon — Libreville
  • Kenya — Nairobi & Kitengela
  • South Africa — Rustenburg
  • Togo — Lomé

For the past two decades, the Assemblies of God movement in Africa has grown at an exponential rate. Although Africa’s Hope rejoices over the amazing numerical increase, they are faced with tremendous challenges as well as opportunities to equip a new generation of African men and women to proclaim the gospel, plant new churches, and make disciples in cities and villages across the continent.

“We are convinced that Spirit-filled, biblically trained leaders are the hope of Africa,” says Easter. “Currently, we have more than 14,000 Bible school students seeking to further their education and enhance their knowledge and skills, in response to the call of God upon their lives. Bible schools with well-resourced libraries enhance our ability to train this generation of students, and our African students are very excited as they experience full access to a quality library system of theological textbooks and journals.”
