Week of Prayer: Day 1
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16).
Some people approach God in prayer with heads hung low, afraid to bring their petitions. Others wonder if there is any use to approach Him at all. However, for any who want to come to God in prayer, an amazing invitation has been issued: We can approach His throne of grace with confidence! We can be confident, first of all, that He loves us with an everlasting love. We can be confident in His mercy and grace, regardless of what we have done. We can be confident that our High Priest understands all that we could ever go through, and more. We can be confident that there is nothing beyond His ability to accomplish for us in accord with His will and purpose.
There is no reason for doubt or fear. A veil no longer separates us from God’s presence. It was removed when Jesus died on the cross for our sins, offering forgiveness for all who receive Him as Lord. Now we can come boldly and confidently into the Holy of Holies and obtain grace and mercy in time of need. We can have faith and assurance that Jesus will hear our prayers, understand our struggles, and respond to us with His love and care. What marvelous hope this brings!
