Week of Prayer: Day 4
“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6).
There is power in position. Those who sit in top positions of power and influence in the political system, in the business world, and other enterprises, carry supreme authority in their realms. Yet those closely associated with persons of authority also bear great influence, for they have the backing of top leadership.
In his letter to the Ephesians, the apostle Paul made it clear to his audience that those who have been redeemed by Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross are now spiritually seated in heavenly places with Him. This is not a futuristic reference to resurrection glory, but describes a position of authority that we have even in this life — now. That being true, every one of us can pray with all the backing of heaven’s authority that we need. We can see God’s hand move in powerful, sovereign, supernatural ways as we appropriate the power and authority that is positionally granted to us.
Many people need healing and deliverance from bondages and addictions of all kinds. Issues of moral and spiritual concern surround us in the culture. Yet, in the face of these challenges, we do not have to shrink back in fear or timidity, but we can wield the influence that is ours as sons and daughters of the King of kings and Lord of lords! We can pray with authority!
