Accreditation Achieved

The Hot Springs, Arkansas-based Assemblies of God Family Services Agency, through COMPACT Family Services, has achieved national accreditation through the New York-based Council on Accreditation (COA). COMPACT provides a variety of family supporting services, including Hillcrest Children’s Home, Highlands Maternity Home, foster care, and CompaCare. It took COMPACT 18 months to obtain accreditation after COA evaluated all aspects of the agency’s programs, services, management, and administration.

COA accreditation is an objective, independent, and reliable validation of an agency’s performance. The COA accreditation process involves a detailed review and analysis of an organization’s administration, management, and service delivery functions against international standards of best practice. The standards driving accreditation ensure that services are well coordinated, culturally competent, evidence-based, outcomes-oriented, and provided by a skilled and supported workforce.

To achieve COA accreditation, COMPACT first provided written evidence of compliance with the COA standards. Thereafter, a group of specially trained volunteer peer reviewers confirmed adherence to these standards during a series of on-site interviews with trustees, staff, and clients.

“COA national accreditation validates COMPACT’s excellent and qualified service compliance with recent federal legislation, Family First Prevention Services Act of 2018, affecting all states and private agencies,” says Jay Mooney, executive director of the agency.

COA is the sole national independent accrediting body under the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption to accredit intercountry adoption service providers. In addition, COA is the only national accreditor designated by the U.S. Department of Defense to develop accreditation standards and processes for human service programs provided to military personnel and their families.

“This national accreditation achievement greatly accelerates the agency’s growing continuum of services and its national commission and vision to help redeem more vulnerable children, youth, and families at this critical time in our nation,” says Assemblies of God General Superintendent Doug Clay.

Assemblies of God Family Services Agency offers Hillcrest Children’s Home residential care, residential treatment, respite care, transitional living, Highlands Maternity Home, foster care, kinship navigators, and CompaCare wraparound services for vulnerable children and families in Arkansas. CompaCare, foster care training, and kinship navigator services are offered in Missouri. CompaCare resources and training are available nationwide.
