Evangel Introduces Club Sports to its Athletic Offering

Club sports, such as archery, cornhole, men's volleyball, and more will be introduced at Evangel University over the next two years with scholarships available.
Beginning this fall, Evangel University will launch a slate of collegiate club sports, including bass fishing, beach volleyball, bowling, CrossFit, and disc golf. These offerings will supplement Evangel’s robust varsity athletic teams and provide more opportunities for students to get involved in athletic competition. Scholarships are available.

Additional club sports will be introduced over the next two years, including archery, axe throwing, cornhole, men’s volleyball, shotgun, spikeball, and three-on-three basketball.

Kelly Richardson, EU’s Sport Management and Physical Education program coordinator, will serve as the director of club sports for the Springfield, Missouri, institution.

“Club sports offer a variety of opportunities for students to get involved, compete against other institutions, and proudly represent Valor nation,” Richardson said. “This is just another example of how EU is working hard to enhance the student life experience here on campus.”

Club sport teams will compete with other schools’ teams but do not fall under the university’s athletic conference and do not have varsity status. Club sport teams will be led by an athletic coach or by students with an EU advisor. Standards of enrollment status, grade point average, and community standing may be required for team membership.
