SEU Launches Associate Degree in Nursing

Southeastern University will be offering an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), a two-year degree program, beginning in the 2023 fall semester.
LAKELAND, Fla. — Southeastern University (SEU) has announced that it will be launching an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) in the fall of 2023. The ADN is a two-year degree program designed to jump-start students’ nursing careers by preparing them for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) — an exam all nurses must pass to receive a license to practice.

The program will be offered in a hybrid learning format, ideal for individuals who are planning to continue working while earning their degree. The initial foundational core courses can be taken completely online, while the nursing courses will be delivered in the evenings and on weekends on SEU’s main Lakeland campus and within local healthcare settings.

“The Associate Degree in Nursing is intended for those looking to go back to school or even those who may be seeking a career change,” said SEU Chief Nursing Administrator Dr. Mark Reinhardt. “By offering evening and weekend classes, we’re aiming to make a nursing education attainable for older adults in the workforce. And in doing so, we’re striving to diminish the current deficit of nurses we’re facing in the United States.”

Students enrolled in the ADN program will gain hands-on, clinical training in the university’s state-of-the-art simulation lab and have access to the cutting-edge Anatomage Table. They will also participate in clinical rotations through partnerships with local hospital systems.

In order to keep instruction fresh and tailored to unique individual needs, class sizes will be small and courses will be offered on rotation.

Graduates of the ADN program will have career possibilities as registered nurses, travel nurses, health policy nurses, and more.

Those who complete the program will have the opportunity to pursue additional nursing education by enrolling in SEU’s fully online RN to BSN degree or the fully online Master of Science in Nursing degree with concentrations in education or administration.
