SEU to Receive $5.6 Million Scholarship Endowment

Southeastern University recently received an endowment of $5.6 million to use towards scholarships for full-time students pursuing ministry-related degrees.
LAKELAND, Fla. — Southeastern University (SEU) has announced that it will be receiving funds for student scholarships through a $5.6 million endowment known as the Graper Family Scholarship Endowment. The funds were established as a gift from the late Robert and Sandra Graper.

As requested by the Grapers, the endowment will be providing scholarships for full-time students pursuing a ministry-related degree at SEU.

“The endowment is a generous gift that will establish a beautiful legacy at SEU of a family who served and honored Christ in everything they did,” said SEU President Kent Ingle. “The Grapers shared our mission and passion for equipping the next generation of ministry leaders and world-changers. The impact of their gift will not only change the lives of our students, but the lives of those they go on to serve.”

The Graper Family Scholarship Endowment was set to go into effect after the passing of both Robert and Sandra. The students selected for the scholarships can be pursuing any level of degree, including associate, bachelor’s or even postgraduate, but they must demonstrate a financial need and be actively enrolled in a ministry curriculum.

In addition, students who have been granted a scholarship will then be eligible to receive the scholarship each year until their graduation from SEU.

The Grapers were well-known for their contributions to churches, missionaries, charitable organizations, and nonprofits, as well as higher education institutions.

“My parents were very passionate about spreading the word of Jesus as far as it could go,” expressed Robert and Sandra’s daughter, Jennifer Clark. “They were intent on supporting those who are passionate about getting into the ministry but may not have the means to get started.”

The first awarding of the Graper Family Scholarship will be in fall 2025, with student applications being accepted in spring 2025.

Inspired by the Grapers' gift, SEU’s Office of University Advancement will be establishing a Planned Giving Society for others who wish to impact the lives of SEU students and the future communities in which they will live, work, and serve.
