Senior Adult Conference Coming in September
The biennial Senior Adult Conference will again convene in Branson, Missouri, but registrations are limited and filling up fast.
Martha Tennison, Hal Donaldson, Rick Ross, and Ruthie Oberg will be the featured speakers for the 2026 Senior Adult Conference being held Sept. 21-23 at the Hilton Branson Convention Center in Branson, Missouri. However, for those interested in attending the biennial event, the time to act is now.“At this time in 2024, we had about 280 registrations — as of today for 2026, we have just over 480 registrations,” states Bob Cook, who leads the AG Senior Adult Ministries with his wife, Sherilyn. “At this rate, we very well may end up having to close registration weeks, if not months, early and establish a waiting list — so, if you want to be sure to be a part of this inspiring and fun event, register now.”
In addition to a powerful group of general session speakers, Cook says that music will be provided by The Kelleys along with vocalist Dan Parotti. Also, back by popular demand, former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft will be leading a hymn sing.
“John always does such a wonderful job with the hymn sing,” Cook says. “So many of the old favorites we all remember and love so much!”
A unique feature for this year’s conference is a trip to the expansive world headquarters of Convoy of Hope.
“We will be offering the option for guests to either drive themselves or take one of our chartered buses to the Convoy facility in Republic,” Cooks says. “There, they will be served a lunch, be given a tour of the facility, and hear from Hal Donaldson, president of Convoy of Hope. We will also be taking an offering for Speed the Light toward purchasing a new semi for Convoy . . . and wouldn’t it be something if we could raise enough to buy a semi for them!”
The registration fee for the conference is $129 per person and includes two breakfasts at the conference hotel (whether a person stays at that hotel or not), the Convoy of Hope lunch, a widow and widowers reception hosted by General Superintendent Doug Clay and Assistant General Superintendent Rick Dubose, and a ticket to Sight & Sound Theatre’s production, David.
“In addition to the four general sessions, there will be two breakout sessions that will offer six different options for each session (a total of 12),” Cook says. “Topics will cover how to do senior adult ministry in the local church, being a grandparent that makes a spiritual impact, helping seniors go through grief, helping seniors avoid frauds and scams, ministering to seniors living in rest home facilities, seniors and financial management, what’s going on in missions in the United States, and many more.”
Cook, who anticipates this year’s event to be record-setting in attendance, explains the reason they may have to close registration early and create a waiting list is that the convention facility has a limited capacity and registration is already approaching the halfway mark.
“We don’t want people to miss out,” Cook says. “This will be a time of encouraging seniors in their God-given purpose — to continue to be representatives of Jesus throughout their senior years. They will also be meeting old friends, making new friends, and having an incredibly refreshing time in the Lord and with each other.”
