Open Letter from Paris
EDITOR'S NOTE: The following open letter was provided to PE News by an Assemblies of God church located near the tragic attacks on the Bataclan Theater in Paris. The World Assemblies of God Fellowship has called all churches to prayer on Sunday, November 22 for those suffering in the wake of the Paris attacks, as well as other global crises which have arisen in November.
Dear Brothers, Sisters, Friends,
For the second time in less than a year, Paris has been dramatically plunged into bloodshed at the hands of "Islamist" terrorists. Even though the people of France are courageous and united, our entire nation has been shocked and deeply wounded.
Our church, here for 40 years now, is located in the "heart" of this tragedy; in the neighborhood called the Bastille. This is where Charlie Hebdo, the Bataclan Theater and the restaurants where the shootings took place on Friday, November 13, are all located. They are our close neighbors. We are especially touched by the drama that took place in the Bataclan Theater. It is very close to our church so we have rented it on various occasions for seminars and evangelistic events; in 2014 with Carter Conlon and Claude Aude, and this year, 2015, with Nicky Cruz.
On Friday the thirteenth, there was a regularly scheduled evening prayer service (every second Friday of the month). The auditorium was full. Interestingly, over the past several weeks, we have sensed a growing wave of the Holy Spirit in the Church: powerful visitations of God's presence, conversions, healings, and deliverances in virtually every service, both on Sunday (three services Sunday morning and one in the early afternoon) and during the week.
We can only conclude that in the midst of fear and dread, God is preparing to visit our country powerfully and we are ready to meet the challenge whatever the price may be.
