AG Women Capping 100th Anniversary Celebration with General Council Luncheon

AG Women has plenty to celebrate this year — its 100th anniversary, breaking $1 million in giving for Light the Way, and its new "Audacious Faith" theme.
It was 1925 when Etta Calhoun organized a group of women in Houston for intercessory prayer for missionaries. Shortly afterwards, Calhoun, realizing the group could also provide tangible support for missionaries, formed the first Women’s Missionary Council, the forerunner of today’s AG Women.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of AG Women. According to Nonda Houston, the AG Women national director, the 100th anniversary will be a celebration walked out locally and nationally throughout the year.

“Our biggest celebration, however, will be at General Council,” Houston says. “We’ll be hosting the 100th Anniversary Celebration Luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Rosen Centre Grand Ballroom in Orlando. Everyone who attends will receive a commemorative gift to help make this a special occasion.”

In addition to honoring the pioneers of AG Women, Houston says there will be a focus placed on Light the Way, the missions emphasis for AG Women.

“In 2024, the ministry we focused on was Project Rescue (rescues and restores lives of those affected by exploitation),” Houston says, “and I’m thrilled to say that we raised over $1 million!”

For 2025, AG Women is expanding its Light the Way efforts to include She is Europe (partners with AG missionaries to reach girls in Europe for Christ) and SaveOne (presents Jesus to and helps those suffering from the choice of abortion) in addition to maintaining its commitment to support Project Rescue.

The 100th anniversary and breaking the $1 million barrier in giving also ties in well with the AG Women’s theme for the year, Audacious Faith.

“Audacious Faith is about trusting God,” Houston explains. “We have women of strong faith, bold faith — and faith is the difference maker as we have witnessed throughout our history. Matthew 19:26 says that with God everything is possible, and when we fully trust in God and His Word, that’s an audacious faith — one we will be known by!”
