AG Endorses Global Outreach Day

The Assemblies of God is encouraging believers to participate in Global Outreach Day (G.O.D.) to be held this year on Saturday, May 30. The emphasis of G.O.D. is for every believer to share the gospel with at least one person in order to reach millions with the gospel message in a single day.

Known for proclaiming the gospel message throughout the world, the Assemblies of God has endorsed Global Outreach Day (G.O.D.), an evangelistic event that takes place annually on the last Saturday of May.

According to Werner Nachtigal, the international president of Global Outreach Day, the vision for the event is that every believer is to share the gospel with at least one person on that day, this year on May 30. Currently, more than 100 nations and millions of Christians are already planning to be a part of this effort.

The reason to have a specific day? Nachtigal quotes a Rick Warren statistic : 93 percent of church members never share the gospel with others!

"Of course, we do not evangelize only on that one day," Nachtigal explains, "but G.O.D. serves as a kick-off day to ignite ongoing evangelism. Our long-term strategy is, 'From one day of action to a lifestyle of evangelism.'"

"I believe Global Outreach Day is a catalyst for Christians to move from people of faith to people with a passion to share their faith," states AG General Superintendent George O. Wood. "My prayer echoes that of Brother Nachtigal's -- that the event will break down self-imposed barriers for sharing the gospel message; that one day will turn into every day!"

The G.O.D. event begins the Friday before as people pray individually or gather as a group to pray for the harvest and laborers. On May 30, G.O.D. goes into personal action, as individuals or teams share their faith with others. Then on May 31, ministers are encouraged to present a gospel message as those invited through G.O.D. visit the church.

"Focusing our collective energy globally on one day," Nachtigal observes, ". . . accomplishes a greater spiritual breakthrough than any single ministry or church network could ever do on their own."

Greg Mundis, AG World Missions executive director, says the AGWM leadership team endorses the Global Outreach Day as well. "Our prayer is that many people hear the gospel message of Jesus Christ through this effort and become a child of God and brothers and sisters in Christ," he says.
