AG Week of Prayer Coming Jan. 5-11, 2025
The Assemblies of God annual Week of Prayer for 2025 has a missions focus based on Matthew 28:19.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19) is the Scripture focus for the 2025 Week of Prayer for the Assemblies of God. From Jan. 5-11, General Superintendent Doug Clay is calling the Assemblies of God family to fervent prayer under the umbrella of Matthew 28:19 and the theme "Missions — Advancing God's Kingdom." “There is a desperate need and hunger for the gospel message throughout the world,” Clay states. “It’s imperative that we pray with fervency for our missionaries and workers, for God to provide and open the avenues for them to reach the world for Christ.”
However, Clay urges churches and individuals to remember the world that exists within the borders of the United States.
“Our friends, families, and neighbors are a part of that world the Lord is sending us to,” Clay states, “but we also have ‘every tribe and every nation’ residing within our borders — citizens, visitors, workers, and more than 1 million international students — who need our prayers, who need Jesus.”
The 2025 Week of Prayer materials offer seven key prayer points — one for each day. Points include establishing the Church throughout the world, pouring out of the Holy Spirit on school and college campuses, prayer points for missionaries, prayer for God to use each person as a missionary, and more.
Free downloads, including an email header, presentation slides, and a bulletin insert are available on the Week of Prayer site along with three free videos — all also available in Spanish.
The trio of videos offered for the Week of Prayer includes a brief introduction to the Week of Prayer; a message for pastors and leaders from Clay, AG World Missions executive director John Easter, and AG U.S. Missions executive director Choco De Jesús; and a prayer focus video for the church and small groups led by Clay, Easter, and De Jesús. A collection of prayer resources from My Healthy Church is also provided.
“This is a critical week in the life of the body of Christ,” Clay says. “When you think about how many will be setting aside extra time this week to pray, it brings that verse alive, that the effectual fervent prayer of righteous people avails much (James 5:16).”
