Global Evangelism Conference

SUM Bible School & Theological Seminary will host its first Global Evangelism Conference next month in lieu of its annual Mardi Gras evangelism outreach event in New Orleans.

“So much has changed as a result of the pandemic,” says SUM founder and chancellor George A. Neau. “One thing that has remained constant is Jesus’ Commission to go and make disciples of all nations. Although our methods must change, our mandate is the same.”

SUM’s free evangelism conference Feb. 11-13 will be one of the first online summits aimed at helping people share their faith confidently. Neau says over three days participants in the global evangelism conference will learn to share their faith, sometimes in creative ways never considered before.

For the past 30 years SUM has been committed to equipping indigenous leaders from the U.S. and around the world by offering an affordable theological education combining academic instruction with practical hands-on ministry and personal mentorship.

“This is the most connected generation in history, yet the global landscape couldn’t be more complicated,” Neau says. “We’re bringing together voices from various sectors to start a conversation about how to share faith in a complex world.”

General session speakers will be Neau, Assemblies of God Assistant General Superintendent Rick DuBose, and India evangelist Edith Dhana Prakash.

Workshop speakers at the conference will include: Scott Camp, faculty chair of evangelism at SUM’s El Dorado Hills, California, campus; author and speaker Larry Tomczak; evangelist and author Joe Oden; preacher, author, and entrepreneur Nora Jones; evangelist Sean Smith; and 2019 SUM alumnus Lovert Mays.

The summit is designed for a variety of participants, including general attendees interested in getting equipped to share their faith. This registration gives conference attendees from anywhere in the world access to all of the livestream and archived services and workshops, allowing for flexibility to join sessions best suited to their needs.

The gathering also will enable those committed to bring their evangelism training to the next certificate level. Participants will receive an Evangelism Training Certificate confirming 15 hours of evangelism training and will be offered the opportunity for college scholarship in a select number of countries, including the U.S.

The lead now/credit bearing option is for those ready to put their evangelism training into practice and may be interested in pursuing formal theological education. Participants will receive conference resources and be added to evangelism teams to participate in the local outreach in their area. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to earn one undergraduate practicum credit at SUM and will be offered a scholarship for their first trimester at SUM campuses in select countries upon completion of the outreach.

The event also is designed for current SUM students, staff, faculty, cohort advisers, and alumni.
